LOL, you quoted John Prine. Safety Joe was not one of his I put on my play list, but I sure loved the man's songs and appreciate the perfect placement in this series. His last album was the only one to make Top 10 and perhaps prophetically it had the song, "When I Get to Heaven." Slighly irreverent but so enjoyable. See if you can find a way to fit it in a future writing. :)

When I get to heaven, I'm gonna shake God's hand

Thank him for more blessings than one man can stand

Then I'm gonna get a guitar and start a rock-n-roll band

Check into a swell hotel, ain't the afterlife grand?

And then I'm gonna get a cocktail: vodka and ginger ale

Yeah, I'm gonna smoke a cigarette that's nine miles long

I'm gonna kiss that pretty girl on the tilt-a-whirl

'Cause this old man is goin' to town.

Take care and I hope John Prine made it to heaven. I would love to hear "Grandpa Was a Carpenter" live someday. God bless

"I Remember Everything" is marked as his last song... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L21Tc_DtL6M

Carol's grandson pointed me to it... I was a bit surprised a 21 yr old would appreciate him. We lost John Prine early in the covid battle. Even people like Bob Dylan had something to say about the quality of his songwriting.

I became aware of him only in recent years… probably because from a distance it sounded like a genre of music I don't normally default to. But his lyrics and his voice… he sounds like someone you'd want to walk up to and hug… and he'd probably hug you back.

Yes… "When I Get to Heaven" is so theologically sound, I feel compelled now to build a blog around it! 😎😎

Blessings to you, my friend…
