January 2019 - Our only trip together to Cancun was 3 months after we were married. One day, Jeremy and family took us to the Mayan archeological site of Cobá, in the heart of the Yucatan Peninsula. From there we stopped at Tulum, south of Cancun on the Mexican Caribbean coast.
Carol’s love for missions and missionaries was on display wherever we went. As I prepare for my trip this Friday, I am reminded of how she lived for the cause… loved the cause… prayed for the cause… gave of herself to the cause… and, even in her last years, generously supported the cause.
What we lived for… what I still live for… began with “pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest,” (Matthew 9:37-38 ESV), and ended with “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.” (Mark 16:15 ESV)
After a very long pause, my trips to Mexico are back to the quarterly rhythm I had initially hoped for. I have been invited to preach in Cancun on Sunday, May 11th, and the 18th. I am preparing a message from Acts 18 for each church I will be with.
I’m hoping for the opportunity and stamina (for the extreme heat) to visit a mission that was started in the interior a few years ago under the ministry of Pastor Jaime and the Berean church in Cancun. I have not been able to meet them yet.
Please pray this trip will be fruitful, encouraging, and strengthening for all… and for me too.
Thank you.
Praying for a fruitful time for you, Greg! And the energy to do what God puts in your path to do. :-)
