Can humidity be over 100%? My body says it can. It’s always to be anticipated post-hurricane. But does it have to stay that way overnight, too? Yes, it does.
I had a great shower and study time early this morning. Then, on to an almost instant breakfast of microwave-scrambled eggs mixed with cheese and hot sauce, accompanied by peanut butter toast and an Aeropress cup of coffee (black).
My scheduled doctor appointment was shortly after noon. We had to wait a couple of hours, but it was well worth the wait for me. Check-up, meds updated, and labs set up for my next visit.
Then lunch—finally! We landed at an Argentine restaurant that makes the most scrumptious empanadas I’ve ever had.
Home for a nap in an air-conditioned room. Whew!
Then, it was time for ice cream with a cherry on top. The Berea church in Cancun had invited me to share something with them. The whole church tried to show up this evening to accommodate me because I needed to be with another group tomorrow morning.
What a special time with the sweetest people on earth! The pastor led in a couple of songs and then turned it over to me. Fellowship, sweet bread, coffee, and lots of hugs followed.
The thrust of my message was that the Good Shepherd gave his life for his sheep. We do the same for people around us who need the Lord and the consolation he offers. If we’ve been recipients of his consolation, it’s our turn to console someone else in a meaningful way. We don’t just come out of the valley of trials and grief feeling calmer and trusting in God. We have the spark of hope for being useful once again in the Kingdom. It’s the kind of hope that gets us out of bed in the morning and puts a smile on our faces.
